Police diverted traffic around Albany near the foot of the Confederation Bridge Wednesday afternoon to stop a car reportedly being driven by a man with a gun. The gun turned out to be toy.
At about 1:50 p.m., someone called police to say they had seen a motorist with a gun crossing the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick. The car was identified as a black Nissan with New Brunswick plates.
RCMP, Borden-Carleton police and bridge security tracked the car across the bridge. Not wanting to take any chances, they diverted traffic around the Albany area to make the stop.
The toy was left in the vehicle after a Halloween party on Tuesday night, and the driver was simply looking at the fake firearm before he crossed the bridge.
