KDR: Changing Focus
Brent Jessop - Knowledge Driven Revolution.com September 5, 2007
When I originally started Knowledge Driven Revolution.com it was shortly after I had “woken up”. And under the naïve idea that all other people needed to wake up was what I needed. Just the right piece of information to kick start the process.
The other reason for the website was to help organize my thoughts in such a manner that it was easy to share them with others. This will still be the focus of the website to some extent but it will no longer be a daily news type website.
I have come to view daily ‘news’ websites very differently over the years as I have grown. They tend to become a daily blow-by-blow of how badly we are getting raped by this system that lords over us. Don’t get me wrong, it is important to know what is happening in the world, but it is too easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, or for that matter never get to see the bigger picture. There is also a strong fear and anxiety that is presented (intentionally or not) through this format.
Another major problem with news sites is that they are very reactionary. The BIG story of the day is very much given from the top down. Some horror story is published by a News Wire like the Associated Press and everybody rants and raves about it. Then the next story is handed down to us, and we rant and rave again about that. And around and around in circles we go.
The changes that are coming to KDR are probably just a reflection of the changes that I am going through. A desire for a deeper understanding. This is at best given in small doses or is completely absent from the vast bulk of websites, including my own. My time and focus will be more spent reading books and documents instead of news stories. These types of sources are much more difficult to share.
The resulting changes to KDR will be much less news stories, and much more focus on my own writing about things that may or may not be the topic of choice by the news wires. Hopefully this will result in reduced quantity but increased quality.
As far as other projects go, I am contemplating some sort of audio broadcast in the not so distant future. The format and focus of that is not yet finalized. Also, I am in the middle of researching for an up coming documentary, but that is still a far way off from completion.
