Oh, what fun it would be on our often very stodgy Canadian political stage if the "men in dark suits" in the House of Commons, Messrs. Harper, Dion, Duceppe and Layton, would all lighten up a bit, like Boris Yeltsin. In 1992 the gregarious Russian leader played the spoons, a popular musical instrument in Russia, on the head of Askar Akayev, the president of ex-Soviet Kyrgyzstan. This voter's mind boggles at the thought of Mr. Harper doing the same thing on Mr. Dion's head.

Goodbye, Mr. Yeltsin. The world is a much better place after having experienced your engaging antics on the one hand, and your substantial contribution to the downfall of Soviet communism on the other.
